Is my photo uploaded anywhere?

No. The background is removed by a model running in your browser. Only the model itself is downloaded, from Tabreon; your photo stays on your device.

Why does the first photo take longer?

The first time, your browser downloads the 44 MB background-removal model. It is cached afterwards, so later photos — even on later visits — start almost immediately.

Is there a watermark or a limit?

No watermark, no sign-up and no daily limit. Download the full-resolution transparent PNG as often as you like.

What kinds of photos work best?

Photos with one clear subject — a product, a pet, a person — against a background that contrasts with it. Busy scenes with several subjects may keep parts you wanted removed.

What format is the result?

A PNG with a transparent background, at the size of your photo (scaled down to 4000 px on the longest side if it was larger).

About this tool

Drop in a photo of a product, a pet or a person and Tabreon cuts the background out, leaving a transparent PNG. It uses ISNet, an open-source segmentation model, running in your browser. The model (44 MB) downloads from Tabreon the first time and is cached; your photo is never uploaded. Model credits: ISNet by Xuebin Qin et al. (Apache-2.0); ONNX conversion by IMG.LY (MIT), int8 quantisation via xrds/isnet-general-onnx-int8. Licences and notices.

Runs in your browser — nothing is uploaded; your input never leaves your device. How it works

Quick answer

Drop in a photo and Tabreon cuts the background out, giving you a transparent PNG to download. It runs an AI segmentation model in your browser, so the photo is never uploaded.

Why use Tabreon for this?

Your photo never leaves your device — the cut-out is computed in your browser, not on a server.
No sign-up, no credits and no watermark: download the full-resolution PNG (up to 4000 px) every time.
The model downloads once (44 MB) and is cached, so later photos start right away.

How to remove the background from a photo

1Choose a photo. Drop in or select a JPEG, PNG or WebP photo of a product, animal or person.
2Wait for the cut-out. The first time, the background-removal model downloads (44 MB). Then the background is removed in a few seconds.
3Download the PNG. Compare the before and after, then select Download PNG to save the transparent image.

What is background removal?

Background removal separates the main subject of a photo from everything behind it and makes the background transparent. Tabreon uses ISNet, an open-source image segmentation model, which predicts for every pixel how likely it is to belong to the subject. That prediction becomes the transparency of the output PNG, so edges like fur and hair fade out smoothly instead of being cut with a hard line.

How Tabreon handles your data

Processed entirely in your browser. The model and the AI runtime are downloaded from Tabreon (not a third party) on first use; your photo is never uploaded.

Key features

Works on products, animals, people and objects — not just portraits
Transparent PNG output at up to 4000 px on the longest side
Runs on your own device, with no sign-up and no watermark
Before/after preview on a transparency grid

Common use cases

Product photos for an online shop listing on a white or transparent background
A pet or portrait cut-out for a poster, card or presentation
Logos or objects photographed on a desk, isolated for a design

Common mistakes & limitations

Fine hair and see-through objects (glass, veils) may come out slightly soft.
The first use downloads 44 MB, which can take a while on a slow connection.
Very large photos are scaled to 4000 px on the longest side; older phones may still run out of memory.
It removes the background only — replacing it with a colour or another image is not supported yet.
