Convert HEIC/HEIF photos from iPhone to JPEG, PNG, or WebP.
About this tool
Upload a HEIC or HEIF photo exported from an iPhone and convert it to JPEG, PNG, or WebP. Conversion happens on our server using a WASM decoder — the file is not stored after conversion completes.
Brief server step — this conversion is processed on our server for a few seconds, then your file is discarded. How it works
Quick answer
Upload a HEIC or HEIF photo exported from an iPhone, pick JPEG, PNG, or WebP as the output, and Tabreon converts it on the server and hands back a downloadable file — the original is deleted right after conversion.
Why use Tabreon for this?
Converts HEIC/HEIF — the format iPhones save photos in by default — to formats every app and website actually accept.
No account, no email gate, and no daily conversion limit.
The uploaded photo is not stored after the conversion response is sent.
How to convert a HEIC photo
1Upload your HEIC photo. Click the upload area or drag and drop a .heic or .heif file exported from an iPhone.
2Choose the output format. Select JPEG, PNG, or WebP, and adjust quality if needed.
3Download the result. Click "HEIC Converter" — the converted file downloads once conversion finishes.
Why do iPhone photos need converting?
iPhones save photos as HEIC (or HEIF) by default — a format that compresses better than JPEG but many websites, older apps, and Windows/Android tools do not open. Converting to JPEG, PNG, or WebP trades some of that compression efficiency for near-universal compatibility.
How Tabreon handles your data
Unlike Tabreon's browser-based tools, HEIC/HEIF decoding isn't yet practical to run client-side, so this conversion happens on Tabreon's server: your photo is uploaded for the length of the request, decoded and re-encoded in memory, returned to you, and then discarded — it is not written to disk or logged.
Key features
Converts to JPEG, PNG, or WebP
Adjustable output quality for JPEG and WebP
Handles HEIC and HEIF files up to 25 MB
Uploaded files are not retained after conversion
Common use cases
Converting iPhone photos before uploading them to a website that rejects HEIC
Sharing a photo with someone whose device or app cannot open HEIC files
Preparing a batch of iPhone photos for editing in software that expects JPEG or PNG
Common mistakes & limitations
Conversion happens on the server, unlike Tabreon's purely browser-based tools, since HEIC decoding is not yet practical to run client-side — the file is uploaded for the duration of the conversion request only.
Live Photos and Portrait-mode depth data in the original HEIC are not preserved in the converted output.
Frequently asked questions
