QR Generator
Technical reference for the QR Code Generator — supported payload types, error correction, and output options.
Quick answer
The QR Generator supports 8 payload types (URL, text, email, phone, SMS, WiFi, vCard, location), four error correction levels (L/M/Q/H, default M), and exports to PNG or SVG at up to 1024px. Everything runs in your browser — nothing is uploaded.
Supported QR types
| Type | Fields |
|---|---|
| URL | A single web address. |
| Text | Any freeform plain text. |
| Recipient address, subject, and body. | |
| Phone | A phone number to dial. |
| SMS | Recipient phone number and message body. |
| WiFi | SSID, password, security type (WPA, WEP, or none), and whether the network is hidden. |
| vCard | First/last name, phone, email, organization, and URL — scans into a contact card. |
| Location | Latitude and longitude coordinates. |
Error correction levels
Higher levels tolerate more damage or obstruction (like a logo) at the cost of data capacity.
| Level | Damage tolerance | When to use it |
|---|---|---|
| L | ~7% | Maximum data capacity, minimum redundancy. Use only when the code will stay clean and undamaged. |
| M | ~15% | Default. A balance of capacity and resilience suited to most screens and prints. |
| Q | ~25% | Higher resilience for codes that may get scuffed, printed small, or partially obscured. |
| H | ~30% | Maximum resilience. Recommended when adding a logo overlay, since the logo covers part of the code. |
